Comprehensive Fleece Study

     In setting up this fleece study there are some assumptions involved.  First we will NOT assume that I am an expert on this material.  Next, we will NOT assume that this is new material.  I have assembled information from as many sources as I have available.  If you have information that you feel should be added or deleted, please let me know.  I want to include as much information as I can.  Experiences you have had that I can add would be greatly appreciated.

     There are many sources out there and some of them differ in the information they provide.  I have condensed this information to the bare essentials for you.  I hope that you will read further about the breeds that interest you.  I have included my reference list for you, but I know that there are many other sources as well.

     All samples are from pure bred adult sheep. Any exceptions have been duly noted.  Each sample of fleece is approximately 1 ounce of raw fleece. A few fleeces have been coated but most have not.  The fleeces were skirted heavily and samples may have come from any part of the fleece.

     The source for each of the fleece samples is included on the study sheet and additional fleece can be obtained from these sources.  If you use any of these sources please mention my name.  I have included in this study many rare and/or endangered breeds.  You might consider helping to save some of these wonderful sheep by adding a few to your flock.

     Hopefully you will add other breeds to your study collection in the future.  The breeds list included in the study kit may vary from time to time due to availability.
